We know many have questions this evening as rumours swirl about back to work legislation in the Alberta Legislature. 

The Government of Alberta today introduced Bill 2 - The Back to School Act, to legislate members of the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) back to work.

If this legislation is passed - Fort McMurray Catholic Schools could reopen to students as early as Wednesday October 29, 2025.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.

The Government of Alberta has asked us to share this letter to Parents/Guardians from Premier Danielle Smith.

We know this has been a challenging time for everyone - students, families, and staff alike. We are deeply grateful for your patience, understanding, and support. While these circumstances have not been easy or ideal, we look forward to the day our schools reopen and our entire Fort McMurray Catholic Schools family is back together again.
