Official Swearing In of Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division Trustee Tim Byron

(Fort McMurray, AB, May 14, 2024)  - Trustee Tim Byron was officially sworn in as a Trustee of the Fort McMurray Roman Catholic Separate School Division last evening. Byron was the winner of a by-election held on April 8, 2024.

"I look forward to working with my fellow Trustees to fulfill our responsibilities under the Alberta Education Act. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on behalf of various community interests, including the Catholic Church, parents, teachers, staff, and students." - Trustee Tim Byron

“On behalf of the Board, we welcome Tim Byron as the newly elected Trustee for our Fort McMurray Roman Catholic School Division. We look forward to working together as a team in carrying out the role entrusted to us in governance of the School Division and the continued advocacy for all of our students and families in support of adequately funded public Catholic education.” - Cathie Langmead, Board Chair

“We are excited to welcome Trustee Tim Byron into Fort McMurray Catholic Schools in this role. We will continue working with our Board to create inspiring and safe learning environments for our students and staff. The Board has been entrusted with such an important role in not just governance, but in shaping the future of Catholic education in our province.” - Natasha MacArthur-Poole, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools Superintendent

A by-election was necessitated by the resignation of a Trustee in November of 2023. In accordance with article 81(1)(3) of the Education Act, the Board must fill the vacancy by holding a by-election. While general election dates are set through legislation, school boards set their own by-election dates.
