We wish to share an update regarding the current Provincial labour negotiations with the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA). 

In September the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) issued a notice with intent to begin a strike on Monday October 6, 2025. Early last week members of the ATA rejected a tentative agreement. 

Today, TEBA served the ATA with a 72 hour lockout notice effective October 9, 2025. 

• A lockout and a strike are different actions within the collective bargaining process. A strike is initiated by employees, while a lockout is initiated by the employer. Both are legal steps intended to support continued progress toward an agreement.

At this time there has still been no agreement reached.

We continue to pray for a timely resolution to this labour situation. We deeply value the dedication, expertise, and commitment of our teachers and all staff members. It is our hope a fair agreement that supports our students, staff, and families is reached as soon as possible.
