Attention all Fort McMurray Catholic Schools Families,
 

We wish to advise you that we have recently seen that all Fort McMurray Catholic Schools will have CUPE Local 2559 strike activity on Wednesday. 
 

Schools with CUPE Local 2559 Strike Activity for Wednesday November 27, 2024:

• All Fort McMurray Catholic Schools and Facilities

Picket Location: 

• Fort McMurray Public School Division Office

What this means for schools with strike activity:

• Early Entry Program (EEP) Classes will be closed.
• Specialized Classes (Vocational Education at Father Mercredi HS and Independent Living Programs at Father Beauregard and Holy Trinity HS) will be closed.
• Individual Students not eligible to attend on strike days have been previously contacted by their schools. These students will not be able to attend school tomorrow. 
• Out of School Care (OSC) Programs will be closed. 

During this time we ask that all primary, non-emergent communication (relaying messages, asking questions, seeking information, etc.) continues to happen via email to your child’s classroom teacher or through your Edsby app. Please only phone the main office in cases of emergency. 

We also ask that you continue to communicate all student absences through Edsby or, if need be, by emailing your school. Please refrain from phoning in absences and leaving messages as our office voicemail may not be monitored as frequently.

The latest updates on the CUPE Local 2559 strike action will continue to be posted on our website.

While recognizing the right of our support staff to engage in legal work action by striking, we know this action has an impact on our classrooms and schools. We remain committed to bargaining and working to find a resolution.
