As you are aware, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools reopened to students on Wednesday October 29, 2025. This was a result of Bill 2 - The Back to School Act, being introduced and passed in the Alberta Legislature on Monday October 27, 2025. 

We are deeply grateful to our teachers, staff, and families for the dedication, patience, and care you have shown during this time. Seeing our schools filled once again and our Fort McMurray Catholic Schools family reunited reminds us just how strong and special our community truly is.

We do have several updates to share with you today: 

Diploma Exams: 

• The Government of Alberta confirmed Diploma Exams will be cancelled for January 2026. 
• Students will receive their school awarded mark as their final official course mark. 

School Calendar:

• As the Government of Alberta has cancelled Diploma Exams, Fort McMurray Catholic Schools will make no more official changes to instructional days in our calendar.

Father Mercredi and Holy Trinity Catholic High Schools:

• In January, there will be no final exams for Grade 10-12 to allow teachers the time needed to teach all the curricular outcomes in their classes.
• January 28, 2025 - Last day of classes for semester 1.
• January 29, 2025 - Semester turnaround day for Middle School and High School (no classes for Father Mercredi and Holy Trinity to prepare for semester 2)
• February 2, 2025 - First Day of classes for Semester 2

Fee refunds: 

• Yellow Bus Transportation - If applicable, credits are being calculated and will appear on your Rycor account shortly. 
• Early Entry Program (EEP) - If applicable, credits are being calculated and will appear on your Rycor account shortly. 

Elementary Report Cards: 

• Starting this year, the timelines for reporting elementary student achievement will be changing. Elementary report cards will no longer be released in November. Instead, report cards will be released in January and June, 
• To ensure ongoing communication about your child’s learning, Parent Teacher Interviews will be scheduled in November and March to discuss student progress. Please watch for information from your child’s school about booking your interview time.
• Families are encouraged to continue monitoring Edsby for updates on student learning and school events throughout the year.

Government of Alberta Parent Payment Portal:

• The deadline to register for this program is now November 14, 2025. 
• If you need to update your address please contact your school directly.
