Good evening Fort McMurray Catholic Schools Staff and Families,
 

As we shared with you this past weekend, we were pleased to state a tentative resolution had been reached regarding the job action (strike). Now we can share that this agreement has been ratified by the membership of CUPE Local 2559. 
 

CUPE Local 2559 staff will return to work on Wednesday March 19, 2025. 
 

School operations:
We are excited to welcome all students and staff as quickly as possible:

• Specialized Classes:
  • Independent Living Program (ILP) will fully reopen on Wednesday March 19. 
  • Vocational Education (Voc. Ed) will fully reopen on Wednesday March 19. 
• Individual Students who were not eligible to attend during the strike can return full time on Wednesday March 19.
• Early Entry Program (EEP) Classes will resume on Wednesday March 19.
• Out of School Care (OSC) Programs will reopen no earlier than Thursday March 20. 
• Registered families have received information from our OSC Program Manager.

As we return to full staff operations: 

• As staff return to work we still ask families to please continue to limit phone calls to the main office. 
• Please continue to use Edsby to report attendance. 

Thank you for your grace, patience and understanding during these challenging times. We recognize how difficult and prolonged this situation has been for all. We are extremely grateful that a resolution has been found that brings all students and our valued support staff back to school.
