Notice of Change to Bus Fees for School Year 2025-26 

Attention Fort McMurray Catholic Schools family who utilize bus services,

We would like to inform you of an important update regarding student transportation fees for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year.

Due to changes in the Ministry of Education’s funding framework, Fort McMurray Catholic School Division will receive an increase in student transportation grant funding. This additional support allows us to significantly reduce transportation fees for families next year:

Revised Transportation Fees for 2025/2026 School Year:

• Yellow Bus Services: Fees will be reduced from $510 to $150 per student per year.
• RMWB Transit Pass (Eligible Riders): discounted rate of $15 per month will be available from September 2025 to June 2026.

Please note the following exceptions: 

• Transit Riders Living Less Than 2 km From Their High School: These students are not eligible under the Provincial Transportation Grant and will continue to pay the full fare of $57.75 per month.
• Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic High School (Outreach School):  Students attending this school are not eligible for transportation funding and will also continue to pay the full transit fare of $57.75 per month, if a transit pass is required.
   

Important to Note:

Transportation fees are reviewed annually based on Provincial Transportation Grant Funding and the actual costs of providing services through both the RMWB and Yellow Bus contractors. 

While we are pleased to reduce fees for the upcoming year, fees may be adjusted in future years to ensure that transportation services are fully funded and do not divert resources from classroom instruction.

Parents will be able to start registering their children for Yellow Bus Transportation where service is available as per the transportation policies of the school division. Please note that all outstanding transportation fees for the current year will need to be paid in full for students to be placed on a bus route for September 2025.
